The Law of Reconciliation

The Duty of Every Member

  1. If you have a problem with someone - something they did or said offended you, you should first go to them in private and let them know about it. Try to work it out between the two of you alone. Do not tell anyone else about it.
  2. If you cannot work it out between the two of you, and you feel the problem needs further resolution, go to the Elders of the church, and let them know about it. Still do not tell anyone else, other than the Elders.
  3. The Elders will keep the matter private, and call a meeting in private between the two individuals, to see if they can come to some resolution.
  4. If a person offends someone openly, they should be rebuked openly, and if they do not repent of their sin openly, they are to be delivered up to the laws of the church.
  5. If a person offends someone in private, they should be rebuked in private, and given opportunity that they might repent in private to the person whom they offended and to God. This should be done in privacy so that the church does not speak reproachfully about them.
  6. Perform all these doings in love.
