The Waves Obey
Inspirational words given on 2 - 9 - 2002

A friend of mine, Gary Stephens, attended a congregation that meets on the Jewish Sabbath.

A man there told the true story of how a number of years ago, when first establishing their ministry in the area, how they came to the shore of Lake Michigan because they were lead to go there and be baptized. The waves that day were enormous, and it seemed almost impossible to carry out the task.

The one man said to the other, "we have to do this thing" and so they were about to proceed, when immediately the waves went flat, and the lake became calm.

Upon hearing this, my friend stood and spoke by influence of the Spirit and said, "It is easier for God to calm the sea, than to change the hearts of His people, because the waves will obey him."

A giggle was heard from a few people in the back of the congregation.

Immediately he said, "It's not funny..."
